Just How Ugly is the Truth about Some Chihuahua Breeders?

The way in which a unethical Chihuahua breeder will attempt to breed a Chihuahua that is smaller than nature intended is rather sick and repulsive, it is vital to know of these matters so that you can get ready for the after-results of health issues

One way is by forcing the
Chihuahua mother into giving birth early.  With this method, a breeder can lie about the age of the dog. It also may cause severe health issues.  Some breeders will use an injection to induce labor.  It can drain needed calcium from the mom and cause a deadly form of calcium depletion.

Another more widespread method is nutrient denial.  A breeder will supply the Chihuahua mother the cheapest, lowest in nutrient food they can buy.  The  mother can die as a result.  When the puppies wean, they feed them the same garbage the mother was forced to eat. This slows down the puppy’s growth.  It also will slow down the healthy development of its internal organs. As soon the puppy is in a safe home with loving owners and has proper food, the puppy will grow then to its full potential.

A third way is to lie about the age.  Underage puppies are more prone to hypoglycemia and death to disease. The age-lying breeders are the easiest to spot. The pup will have very diminutive teeth.

The Truth Behind  Mini Chihuahuas

There is no such recognized breed as the teacup Chihuahua, miniature Chihuahua or any other name that suggests that the Chihuahua is smaller than the "normal" breed. The only genuine and accepted breed is simply the "Chihuahua". Chihuahuas are tiny enough!  No one needs an unethically bred miniature Chihuahua.   It is very important to find a reputable, honest Chihuahua breeder so that you do not fall into the trap of purchasing a dog that should not exist.

This Chi is  small enough without unethical breeding!

What to do if you have a Miniature Chihuahua

If you were not aware that a miniature Chihuahua is not a genuine breed and that they are the result of runt dogs that are bred together to produce unnaturally small Chihuahuas, keep in mind that it is not your burden that the breeder lied to you, sorrowfully many do so that they can obtain a lot of money for a dog breed that does not even exist.

As far as the health of your Chihuahua: be careful, take your dog to the vet often, find a good and caring vet, explain that you believe your Chihuahua may have been born premature or had nutrients withheld.  If your vet dismisses you or tells you it is not a problem, find a new vet!  Keep in mind, your Chihuahua can not be expected to do some of the things of larger dog:  No long walks, playing around with any bigger or older dogs, keep the dog at nice warm temperatures (no cold temperatures-- buy her some cozy dog clothes), make sure you follow good feeding rules- healthy dog food and no table scraps,  hold and pick your Chihuahua up very tenderly.
